July 16 celebration showcased beautiful renovations and nationally recognized technologies at the Moultrie, GA, memory care and Alzheimer’s facility
MOULTRIE, Ga. (August 10, 2015) - Legacy Village at Park Regency celebrated the grand opening of its beautifully renovated Alzheimer’s and memory care wing, ‘The Harbor,’ with a July 16 open house that showcased its nationally recognized design.
“We were excited to open our doors and introduce the Moultrie community to The Harbor,” said Jennifer McClendon, executive director of Legacy Village at Park Regency. “This is an amazing state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s and memory care facility that Moultrie will be proud of. It is a unique concept which has been recognized by state and national organizations for its approach in serving those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.”
Prospective residents, families, local healthcare providers and the public were treated to tours of Moultrie, GA’s newly opened Alzheimer’s and memory care addition, while enjoying light refreshments.
Dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Eddie Seagle from Heritage Church, Tim Powers from Ameris Bank, Georgia State Rep. Sam Watson, Dr. Eddie Seagle of Heritage Church, Lee Hill of First Baptist Church of Moultrie and members of the Colquitt County EMT.
About The Harbor Alzheimer’s and Memory Care Assisted Living Center
The Harbor is the result of years of planning and development with notable experts and researchers in the field of memory loss. As a result of those efforts, the overall theme, design, colors, furniture, and common areas all reflect a 1950’s theme to remind residents of happier times. A series of local nostalgic pictures are located throughout the facility.
The colors are bright and cheery. Flooring types, textures and furnishings were chosen based on successful trends in memory care treatment. A large area called the Town Center is the hub of activities and socialization. This includes the Town Diner and Town Clinic.
The state of the art technology will play a huge part in the delivery of service, care and life enrichment. Bryan Cook, senior vice president of Legacy Senior Services, which manages Legacy Village at Park Regency, said, “We are very excited about the resident-focused, life enrichment programs and the technology that will help our residents with memory stimulation and behavior management.”
One specific technology is SimpleC, an electronic memory stimulation system. Trained staff works with families to select stories, pictures, interests, and recorded trusted voices that assist in memory stimulation and provide timely reminders for activities of daily living. This technology will be led by trained staff, delivered through an intuitive touch screen monitor or tablet in each apartment and is the result of years of study and development with top-tiered research institutions, including the Copper Ridge Institute, Emory University, Georgia Tech and Georgia State.
