Legacy Village at Park Regency Welcomes Two New Furry Residents

MOULTRIE, Ga. (February 25, 2016) – Legacy Village at Park Regency has tested and found success in pet therapy with their assisted living and memory care residents.

Recently, they have warmly welcomed two new additions to their family, Holly and Noel. These new furry friends are two bunnies that live in the garden atrium, and the residents have quickly grown to love them. The garden atrium is a calming courtyard where residents enjoy gardening, sitting and talking, and now playing with and taking care of Holly and Noel.

“We all know that pets make everyone feel good. I am very happy to see Legacy Village at Park Regency taking initiative in this. I think it will be very beneficial for the residents,” said Bryan Cook, Legacy Senior Living Vice President of Operations.

The bunnies joined the Legacy Village of Park Regency family on Christmas, thus the names Holly and Noel. “My dad raises bunnies so he gave them to us as a gift,” said Jennifer McLendon, Administrator of Legacy Village at Park Regency.

Residents at the Moultrie, GA, senior living community enjoy taking care of the bunnies, watching them hop around, and playing with them. It is a great way for the residents to get involved in the building and helps keep their minds active and alert. “The residents love the bunnies! I can already tell how good pet therapy is for them. It makes them smile and gives them something to take care of,” McLendon said.

Mr. James Hughes enjoys watching the bunnies. “They always bring a smile to my face,” he said, “They have a way of brightening up my day.”

The residents are constantly getting joy out of these furry animals. Mr. Rufus Ferguson said, “I love watching them hop around. They are so adorable and very entertaining.”
